Community

Being part of and getting out and about in our community is what we strive to do.

From fun runs to involvement in the local Drone Show, being active in the community and creating opportunities for our members and families is important to us.

The charity works with local community partners to ensure that families know about local opportunities and initiatives. Although some of these activities do have a fundraising element, the focus is on supporting and encouraging Children, Adults, Families, and Friends to take part in community activities under the umbrella of The Pod, building confidence, improving life skills, and a sense of emotional well-being.

We also run fun holiday activities for members and families which make family days out possible and enjoyable for everyone.

POP Disco

On the second Tuesday of each month, POP Disco takes over Frome Town Football Club for some dancing fun!

For anyone 16 yrs + with additional needs (there is no upper age limit) There are limited support staff at the event so we encourage parent carers to come along and join in or catch up with friends.

From 6.30 – 8.30pm.

Entry costs – £6 Members, £8 non-Members

Themes for each disco are chosen by the regular disco goers and it’s always a fun night of singing and dancing.  Follow the Pod on social media to find out about the monthly theme.  Come along and give it a try!

Holiday Activities

In addition to project led holiday activities, Pod members, families and Friends of Pod have enjoyed enjoyed Young Drivers School, Slip-n-slide, theatre visits, trips to the seaside, and lots more.  If you would like to receive information on these activities please sign up below to receive Pod news.

Pod Pathways

Our Pod Pathways Courses are designed to build confidence, resilience and communication skills through activities, games, social interactions and from being out in the community. Learners will develop their life skills through engaging activities like cooking, shopping, using public transport, visiting a coffee shop or allotment and much more. As a member led charity, we’re keen to give our learners a voice and the opportunity to shape course content depending on their interests and the experiences they feel would support their personal growth.

Bingo

Every Monday night at The Cheese & Grain, Market Yard, Frome, you will find Pod’s Community accessible Bingo.

Doors open at 6.30 pm and eyes down to play at 7.30 pm.

The bingo would not happen without the support of volunteers in the community, some of whom have additional needs themselves. The team provides a warm and welcoming space for the wider community to come together and socialise.
