Meet The Team!
Sue Paxton – Charity Manager
As a founding Parent Carer it has been an absolute pleasure to see the difference our work now makes to the lives of disabled young people and their families in Mendip. I came up with the idea and led the steering group from 2011 to 2013 when we opened our first club and have been a Volunteer Chair and Lead until Autumn 2017. My daughter was 10 years old when the idea of a Youth Club first started, it seemed like such a huge thing to open a Youth Club for children with additional needs, now we’re running 3 and lots of other things besides! None of this would be possible if it weren’t for the super, amazing team who support us, everyone is passionate about The Pod and ensuring its success.
Rebecca – Pod Youth Club Leader
I’m Rebecca and I’m lead worker for the POD Youth Club. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been involved with POD since the club opened in November 2013 and worked as a youth worker, then senior youth worker and now lead youth worker.
I have also been cover lead of the Young Carers Club and when Pod PLUS In November 2017 I was extremely lucky to be able to work there to as support worker and cover lead.
I’m a Teaching Assistant with 10 years experience with additional needs, specialising in Autism, I love all things Pokemon Go and Disney!
Jane – Zone Leader
My name is Jane and I lead the young carers zone youth group, I have worked in roles in education and youth work for over ten years because I love working with young people! The Zone group are truly amazing, they are a lovely bunch and make our sessions fun and inspiring. We’ve tried all sorts from roller skating to sushi making with lots of baking and craft in-between. A great group to join and enjoy some space to relax, take time off and have fun.

I have recently joined the team and I can already see how much the young people enjoy spending time together, I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to join this wonderful charity. I am looking forward to the coming months, getting to know the members and joining in the fun! I am a mum of 3 and spend most of my week working in a GP surgery aswell as volunteering with the local gateway club. When I have free time I enjoy walking my dog in the countryside.

Kevin – Youth Worker
It’s been an amazing experience working for POD. Since being given the opportunity to join the fantastic team in September 2015 I’ve learnt loads, and it’s been great seeing the young people develop and grow as individuals.
