Meet The Team!
Sue Paxton – Co -Charity Manager
As a founding Parent Carer it has been an absolute pleasure to see the difference our work now makes to the lives of disabled young people and their families in Mendip. I came up with the idea and led the steering group from 2011 to 2013 when we opened our first club and have been a Volunteer Chair and Lead until Autumn 2017. My daughter was 10 years old when the idea of a Youth Club first started, it seemed like such a huge thing to open a Youth Club for children with additional needs, now we’re running 3 and lots of other things besides! None of this would be possible if it weren’t for the super, amazing team who support us, everyone is passionate about The Pod and ensuring its success.
Becky Bird – Co-Charity Manager
Hi I am Becky, and I am excited to have recently joined the Pod Team, and to be supporting Sue in managing the charity. I have been involved with Pod for the past 4 years as a volunteer at events as part of Frome Town Rotary. We love helping out and seeing the children, young people and families joining activities and having a great social life. We helped to run some of the very popular silent discos.
I have worked for the past 30 years in schools supporting children with additional needs and also as a social worker in and around Frome.
I love arts and crafts, cycling, and am attempting to run 5k so that I can join in with the Pod Squad at the Frome Half Marathon this year.
I am really looking forward to new and exciting projects for Pod including JAMM, Workshop and Scrapstore, and seeing our members flourish.
Gemma – Administrator and Community Support Assistant
Welcome aboard to Gemma! Our newest recruit at The Pod.

Amy- Youth Worker at Youth Club
Hi my name is Amy and I am a youth worker for the Pod. I started the role in September 2021 and I am loving it.
I have worked with children and young people for over 15 years. I started my career at Frome Opportunity Group and now I am a teaching assistant for students with SEN needs.
I can already see how much the young people enjoy spending time together, I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to join this wonderful charity.
I like playing board games and doing arts and crafts, which usually gets me very messy!
Cassie – Workshop Lead & Youth Worker
Having volunteered for Pod since moving to Frome, I am looking forward to stepping into a Youth Worker role at Pod Youth Club.
I am delighted to be involved in a charity I have come to admire and look forward to getting to know the members and the rest of the team.
My previous experience and study has been in social care, mental health and education. I also run Make:Shed, Frome, a making space for young adults.
I am also really excited about taking the lead in Workshop, a project really close to me heart through teaching new skills and using sustainable materials.
Kevin – Youth Worker at Youth Club & Workshop
It’s been an amazing experience working for POD. Since being given the opportunity to join the fantastic team in September 2015 I’ve learnt loads, and it’s been great seeing the young people develop and grow as individuals.
Workshop is an exciting new project to be involved in. I enjoy digital design and sketching daily in my free time. Supporting others to be creative is really rewarding. I love seeing everyone trying new things and learning new skills.
Josie – Youth Support Worker at Zone
My name is Josie and I love being a youth worker for Zone. I originaly took on the role to gain work experience in working with young people and enjoyed it so much that I never left.! It is such a privilege to build meaningful relationships with those who attend the club and watch them grow week by week.
When I am not at Zone I can be found studying for my nutrition diploma, going for weekend walks, getting crafty or trying out new recipes.
Sarah – Pod Plus Support Worker
I was delighted to be offered an opportunity to work with POD+ this year and am really enjoying getting to know everyone. I was born in the UK but moved to the USA with my family aged 12. After 10 years in the States I headed back to the UK with a muddled up accent which no one can quite figure out, met my husband and we eventually settled here in Frome. I am a mum of 2 and we have 21 pets. I love travel, animals, gardening, crafting, baking…a woman of many hobbies which I can’t wait to share with everyone at the POD+ group.
